My current issue is getting the students to comment more on each other posts as a way of encouraging collaboration and giving online feedback.
I am thinking that perhaps my structured approach of ‘telling’ students what to post is giving me greater ownership of their posts, preventing them from taking it any further than my criteria.
I am going to trial giving the students the freedom to post whatever they would like that they deem to be educationally relevant and hope that this gives them a greater sense of ownership of their publications. I wonder if this will help increase the amount of collaboration they engage in online.
What are your thoughts on students choosing what they post about? Do you have any tips on what you have found successful in this area?
