Learning Post-Term 4 Week 8B

Just the weekly learning Post;]

Maths- This week in Maths we continued on the garden project, I sorted out all the prices and I still have a good 3 thousand dollars left which is good. At the end of the class I was thinking about a pagola and even an egg chair, next maths session I will add up those prices and it will add up to about 8-9 thousand and I will be about right. I really enjoy this project because it is so fun especially with a budget, many boys have gone way over there budgets because they have spent it on really ridiculous like two soccer goals that cost five thousand dollars each and they expect their friends to still have money so they can get money from them. I am just trying to make my garden look really pretty and good so it will look really awesome as the final product. I have to get the correct measurements for the area of the garden I’m doing because it is apart of the criteria.

Inquiry-Today in inquiry Ellie and I finished our personal project and Emily and I also finished our iproject, Emily and I are having our feedback thing on Monday where all the class get in groups and they will watch our film and then give us constructive and positive feedback about our film. Once we have finished getting the feedback we will write a blog post about all the feedback that we got and also how much people loved and disliked our film. For Ellie and I’s personal project it is due on Friday morning but I think we have also already done that, we have a bit due this Friday but after that we don’t have anymore homework things just school related things that are quite easy and simple to do. It feels so great knowing that I have got it all done and I have a clear space in my head now, Ellie and I just need to Submit our personal projects in the submit folder which is being made tomorrow.

Writing-I got so many seeds done this week, in one of my seeds called ”Girl in the picture” I wrote so small and which meant that I got so much writing on the page. It was a really descriptive seed and it looked really good too. I also got a few other seeds done that were really descriptive and had many words which filled the page. This week I need to update the Writing log which is where you add in everything that you did that certain week, so last night I did five seeds so I put fives ticks under the seeds column and I also had a conference and I also published a piece so I put a tick under both of those columns too. The writing session today was probably like the 2 or 3 writing session because fortunately we only 11 days left [roughly] and then the year will be over.

Learning Post- Term 4 Week 6B

Hey readers,

Here is my weekly Learning Post, for you.

English- This week in English/Writing, I managed to published two pieces. One was called Orangutans and it was from my zoo film, I just typed up the words on a word document and put a really emotive picture in the background of two Orangutans in a forest with half of the trees cut down. The other piece was called Sorry and it was about a woman driving in the night and how she sees a faint outline of something on the road but skids and hits it, then she soon finds out that it was a young girl. I published that piece by scrunching up a piece of paper from a notebook and then writing the date and the content of the writing on the page. My aim was to make it look like a diary entry.

Maths- This week in maths I went to the group where you would learn how to measure the perimeter of a shape, I found it quite simple and fun. It was really good because once we had learnt how to measure the perimeter properly we got a work sheet. The worksheet was quite simple but fun and there were a few trick questions that I managed to get, when we finished all the questions but q.1 we went to q.1 and then we had to get 5 class room objects, measure them with a ruler and and then add the sides to then get the whole perimeter.

Inquiry-This week in inquiry Ellie and I finished our personal project shotlist. The shotlist was quite long and it had about 12 shots, we had a lot of description, about what type of shot we are going to take, what we are talking about and also what we are filming. Next time we have inquiry Ellie and I are getting the teachers to go over our shotlist so that we will be able to tick the ”Planning” box.

Learning Post- Term 4 Week 4B

Hello readers,

This week I will be doing my weekly ”Learning Post”.

Writing- Today in writing, two groups had a conference. Unfortunately it wasn’t my group; so I just worked on a seed, but then I couldn’t think of an idea so I was very stuck for a while. I asked Mr W [Jr.] to help me think of an idea and he said I just needed to look back at my  other seeds and then I would get an idea. Sure enough I went past one of my pieces called ”Sun” an I decided to do a piece about Space, because the sun has a link to space. Now when I am stuck for ideas I will definitely know what to do, look through all my old pieces, then I will have an idea.

Inquiry- This week our first draft for our zoo film was due on Tuesday. I remembered to do mine so I was proud of myself and what I had actually achieved. In first period we got into a massive group and the teachers discussed our task. We had to get our film up and then with the piece of paper they handed us we had to write our name on it and then go around giving feedback on that persons paper, and tick certain boxes that the film included. I accidentally put the wrong film in, it was pretty much the same it just didn’t have the music, and it was funny because the only bad feedback I got was add music. When we got to go back and edit our films and improve with the feedback, I got my other film and then made it perfect. When it was perfect we were aloud to put it into the final draft for our teachers to go over on, on Friday. I rendered my final copy and put it into the K-Drive ready for my teacher to access.

Maths- Lately in maths we have been working on Algebra, at first I found it very, very difficult but I asked my dad to help me get better at it. But this week we did this harder thing in Algebra with two mystery numbers, which I have also found slightly confusing, but slowly managing to figure out. I want to completely know how to do it, so… I am going to do some more with my genius dad.

Learning Post Term 4 week 3A

Today I will just be doing my weekly learning post.Image result for angles

Maths- Yesterday in maths we got a test result back on one of our angles tests. I knew I wouldn’t have gone well with the measuring side of it because I had never used a protractor before. Then we were to go sign up in maths group in the thing we needed to improve the most, and mine was measuring [for a maths lesson at the end of the day] Finally the end of the day came, it was time for maths groups, Miss T explained it really well. Once I had done a few practices, I was pro.

Inquiry-Today in inquiry we continued on working on our zoo films. I was lucky enough to finish my whole voice over, the unfortunate thing is…………….. none of my photos or videos from the zoo were going into Corel. [The program/website that we edit videos on] I tried to make them into Mp-4 but it wasn’t working. I am going to work at school tomorrow and try and get them in Corel, but if I can’t I will be able to ask one of my peers or a teacher.

Writing- Today in writing it was my groups turn for our fortnightly conference. I had one piece of writing in the folder called sorry, so I was going to be conferencing that writing piece. First a few other people in the conference group read out loud their own writing pieces, then it was turn for mine.I read my piece aloud, [Sorry] it was a bit of a dark piece, it was about a older girl running over a younger girl in the middle of the street, at night. I got all my comments about everything that my peers liked, then it was time for the most important bit, the construction, i just needed to explain kind of who the girl was and go a bit deeper with what she was doing. So in the last 30mins of writing I completed that piece, ready for a conference in 2wks.

Learning Post- Term 4 week 2B

Hey readers,

Inquiry-On Monday all of the year 6’s went to the Melbourne Zoo, very early in the morning. It was all for our animal talks, one of the main instructions about the talk is to have a piece to camera in your film [talking to the camera with a video of you] and we also had to have our own videos and things of our animal instead of getting it off the internet. I really enjoyed the experience of going and seeing all the animals and I think it will be really good that we are creating this talk.win_20161013_172827

Maths-Today in maths all the year 6’s started our problem solving again, I managed to write down both of my questions quite speedily, so I was able to go straight onto the questions. I worked with my friend Ellie, and we managed to get the first answer quite quickly, I feel like the more we talk about the question the more I understand what I have to do to get the answer. [Stratergising]  And for the second question I wasn’t able to complete until I got home, this question was really quite hard, but I knew I had to do one thing to know where I had to go.

Choice Day- Term 3 Week 10

Hey readers,

Today I will be talking to you about what we did yesterday at choice day. So first the teachers gave us a list with 8 numbers and at the back it had a list of activity’s [Mosaic, Sewing, Knitting and so on] My number 1 was mosaic and my number 8 was Sewing, and of course I got Sewing.

The day came, and lets just say I wasn’t particularly happy with Sewing. I had a few friends doing it with me, but I really would of preferred Mosaic.

First we had to find a shape that we liked [ I chose a flower ] then I had to draw multiple flowers on the back of paper that I liked, so that I could then put them back to back and sew them. In the end I cut out 16 flowers altogether, but they were going back to back so basically there were only 8 flowers. It was a bit hard and boring cutting out 16 flowers but it was fun doing it was friends and kind of being free with how we wanted to do it.

Finally I was up to the sewing part, luckily we were doing it with a machine [ It wouldn’t of gone too well if I did it by handwin_20160916_093556]. My first attempt I just used the scrap paper because it was my first time and there was no point ruining my flowers, lets just say it didn’t work very well because the string ran out and then the whole stitching stuffed up, but then I got the hang of it.

I was excited and nervous when it came to doing my flowers because I didn’t want to ruin my hard work. But after my first flower I got the hang of it and the flowers came out really well, Mrs Watson said it was amazing for my first try and I was really proud of it.

In the end I was happy that I went to the sewing because I never would of learnt how to Sew [Probably], and I was really happy with how I went and how it turned out. Choice day was very fun.

Promotion Film Reflection

Hello readers,

This term we started a promotion film, Geelong by kids for kids. First we got an email from a lady called Tracey who works at a place who promote the Geelong and the Bellarine, she asked us if we wanted to all make a film for her so that they can put it on their website. Of course we wanted to, so we all got to work, we got into small groups and wrote down a list of places where kids like us would love to go in the Geelong and Bellarine area. Once everyone had written down some great places the teachers culled it down to about 4 areas  with a few places at each. 6A- Torquay- Supa-Tramp, Skate park, Beach and park 6B- Waurn Ponds- Leisure Link, Balyang Sanctuary, 6C- Geelong- Geelong waterfront, skate park and Ferris wheel. Then we all got into a group of 6 [ 2 people from each class] so that we could use the film from each of our partners class. Finally the teachers had everything set and we were ready to go, on Tuesday 6A were the only class to go somewhere because Supa tramp was only open on Tuesday. Once they had comeback from there they saved all there film onto a computer before the film gets lost. Then on Wednesday all the classes set off to there designated places, we all went to a place for around 10-15 minutes depending on what/how big the place is/was. After a great day with all of our filming and everything sorted and completed, we had to save all of our footage on our computers, unfortunately the K-Drive was completely full. Luckily the teachers managed to get 12 USB’s for each group, so it was really easy for everyone in each group to get there footage together and ready. But before we could put all the film on an USB we had to cull and cut all of the bad footage or the last two seconds at the end of a film.

When we had cut all of our film and we were really happy with what we had, we were ready to edit on Corel, it took a very long time to get all the footage on to Corel because it is a very laggy program. When we were happy with our first draft, all the year 6’s went around to everyone’s computer and give a person some feedback so t the en of the session each year six would have five comments. Then we re-edited it with the comments that we got, finally wen we had used all the feedback and were happy with he film, we went and commented on peoples films again. When we had our sheet with all the feedback e gave it t the teachers so that they can chose a few of the best films to send off to the client.

Even if my film doesn’t get chosen, I still think it was a great experience. Here is my completed film⤵

Term 3 Week 9A- Learning Post

Hello,

My last learning post for the term :[

Maths- Today we had a maths test, it was a post test. A post test is where you have a test [ pre-test ]  that majority of the class won’t know much about. Then you learn about the things in the test for a month or two, then once your teachers are sure that you have learnt enough they give you the test again [ post-test ] and see how much you have improved and how much you pay attention in class. I thought I went really well in the test, I am so happy that I checked over it at the end, because one of my answers was wrong.

Inquiry-This week in inquiry we rendered a draft for our promotion film, and we will be sharing it with a group of people to get some feedback because that way we can make the film even better than it is. Today I went around to a few people and asked them to watch my film and give me some feedback. I am quite pleased with the feedback I got and also how I responded to it, but tomorrow I am hoping for a bit more to make my film just that bit better.

Writing-In English today my conference group had a conference. Lukas was the only person who had a piece ready to share, he had a really funny piece about Nurofen and Strepsils. After we had our conference we all went onto silent writing, the other week I was starting a seed about the Eiffel tower. I managed to finish the picture just not any writing, so today I started and finished the seed. I thought it was very descriptive and I chose good words and sentence. When I finished that we still had 20 mins so I started another seed, it was about a girl who went missing and 1 year later she turned up in a picture in her family home. I have tonnes of ides in the piece and I really like the idea of the piece.

Term 3 Week 9A- Reading Log

Hey Readers,

Just letting you know this will be my last reading log for the term, seeing as next week is the last week of school [ and the week only goes for 3 days ]. Anyway, this week our challenge was to make a type of advertisement for our book, the advertisement could be a Magazine a billboard, those kinds of things. So I chose to do a magazine. I chose it because I thought it would be cool, and that I could make it like one of those teen girl magazines. [ It girl or one of those magazines ]

QUEENIE- Rating ❌❌❌❌✖ 4/5 stars Written by Jacqueline Wilson Illustrated by Nick Sharrat

Queenie is a really sad, happy, dramatic, lets just say it is very EMOTIONAL. That’s what i enjoy about this book , it makes you feel all these different emotions.

Queenie is so descriptive, ever time a character or something is described I can just picture the person [or whatever it is that they are describing] in my head.

All in all, Queenie is a fantastic book, and I would say to all tween girls and boys to read this amazing book, it’s a ”MUST READ”!! xx Reading, Reading, Reading.

Term 3 Week 8B- Learning Post

Just the weekly learning post, for you ;]

Maths-This week in Maths I finished my Problem solving questions, they were both quite complicated. I worked the first question out in the time that we had during school, I was very happy and very sure of my answer, but i had no clue about the second, the only problem with the first question was that i knew the answer but I just had no clue on how to explain it. My dad is genius at maths so when I got home he helped me. I first told him what my answer was, he wrote it down with his own explanation and then he told me that I was correct. He had WIN_20160830_173931the best explanation, once he had explained it to me I wrote it out in my own words. For the second question he figured it out and then made me write it down, when i wrote it down he explained to me how the very, very complicated question worked, then again I wrote it down in my own words.

Inquiry- Yay today i finished my promotion film. I had done majority of the film on Monday but still had tonnes to do. Zoe was away yesterday and she had the Torquay film on her computer so Know-one in my group could completely finish there film. But today she was here and managed to get the rest of the film onto the USB. Finally I had all my film on the computer and I just had to add Torquay in an edit that, add the Music [to set the mood] then just mute all the videos. And luckily in the 1 and 2 period I managed to finish it.

English-Today in English we tidied up or seed book. By tidied I mean finish off the pieces that we started and never finished, add in text types and also take out the pages that just had drawings or scribbles in them. My pieces were all neat but I just had to finish the ones that I started and never got to. I was really happy and proud with what I got done in that period, I also started off a published piece and got the paper and decorated that and now just need to write.
