Week 8B Term 2-Passion Project

 

 

Hello there readers,

 

This week I will be doing my last blog post for my ‘’Passion Project’’ last fortnight I told you that I had/was finishing my footage for the video. Now I am up to the hard bit….. EDITING, I just have to finish rendering my footage and then I will be able to start the long process of moving and fixing and so on. I am editing on Corel seeing as it is not the hardest way to edit. I am hoping that my film will go for two-three minutes, because soon enough your readers get a little bored. Unfortunately I will not be showing you any of the film because it will give it away, but I will show you where I am up to in the editing. Some of you may know that I my class will be showing our [posters/films/videos whatever it is that they have decided to choose] finished product in week 9A, we have had about 7 or 8 weeks to complete this by, so hopefully most of them will be complete and posted up on our blog page. In my footage I have successes and failures of how all my layups went because it is good to show how you have improved, I also are going to show you a cool little move in my video…. But I can’t tell/show you what it/they are .We will be doing a passion project each term, so three altogether [we didn’t do any in term 1], I already have some ideas [here is a hint] it’s going to be tasty!!

Week 8B Term 2-Learning Post

Dear readers,

 

Unfortunately I was away quite sick this week so I will not be able to tell you everything that happened, but I was at school for the last two days, so I can tell you about the subjects we did then.

Maths-If you are a common reader of my blog posts you may know about this pre-test and post-test I have been talking about, but most of you may not. A pre-test is a test that has stuff on it that you most likely will not know, so you do the test and after the test you learn all those things they had on the test, after maybe 1-2 months you take the same test, then the teacher will know, if you listen in class and also how/what you have learnt from there teaching. Because I was away I missed the post test, I did it on Thursday, I feel like I learnt quite a bit in those months and a bit, I know I wouldn’t of got 100% in the test, but seeing as I have been working quite hard in maths I am hoping that I have improved a little bit [at the least]. The test also felt a lot easier then when we had first had it, which is a good thing…… I hope.

English– In English/writing I finished another seed, which I thought was quite good, and will hopefully make it into a draft and then conference it next week. I also helped one of my friends publish a writing piece because she needed some help and didn’t have any good/creative ideas to publish. I only got 45mins of writing last week because I was annoyingly away feeling sick.

Inquiry-This week in inquiry we had to have our first ted draft into a file, so the teachers kind of know where we are at with it. In the draft it had the story, intro and the message, we had to write down our message and the take away that we wanted the readers to have. The story was like the facts about your talk, how you don’t like this or how you think it is bad that people do that like that, things like that. For the intro we wrote down what we were talking about whatever you are talking about, and how and why this is and will affect you. My ted talk is about, girls in those countries like Pakistan and those countries don’t have any respect for girl/women education. You probably are thinking… why and how does that affect you, it’s not like you don’t have a good education or fair rights. Well in fact it does affect me quite a bit seeing as I am a girl and especially hearing about that girl Mahala [ I think that was her name] who got shot in the head from these stupid men, who are just very selfish and thought that women/girls don’t need/deserve a strong/good education. Which we really do, example- what if all the men over in those countries got very sick and all the women couldn’t do anything because, 1-what are the chances that when men get sick women don’t get affected/sick at all and 2-they wouldn’t know what to do because they don’t have any idea how to help them, because they didn’t get a good education!

Week 7A Term 2-READING POST

Hello Readers,

This week I will be doing something a bit different than usual, I must choose a setting, character or an event an write a poem. Acrostic, Haiku or just a rhyming poem, I will be doing…… an Acrostic poem, about a [stern but inside nice] teacher.

M. Master of writing and teaching.

R. Rough around the edges but has a kind and loving hear inside, unfortunately his students don’t see it that way.

 

G. He is a really great teacher to have because he pushes you to your limits.

R. Mr. Griffin isn’t 100% ready for his wife to have a baby.

I. He is interesting, even when he thinks a student is doing really well, he doesn’t like to tell them because they will hink they are too good and will stop trying.

F. Likes to fail students who don’t try hard enough.

F. When the students kidnap him/teachnap  him, he stays firm by not begging to the students to let him go, he stays with what he knows is right.

I. He is very informational about the tasks he sets and how he wants them to be done.

N. Never has he neglected any of his students, he always takes each one very seriously. Killing_Mr_Griffin_cover

I hope you liked my Acrostic poem, they are usually done with words and not sentences but I like to describe how I think of them and why. Annoyingly Mr. Griffin has some letters that are hard to find words that match up to him, I know it is not perfect but it is harder than it looks. Why don’t you try?

 

Term 2 Week 6B-Learning Post

This week I will be telling you some of the latest things I have been doing in, maths, English and inquiry.

This week in maths, we had group maths, group maths is where we have four teachers teach about something different, but they are all based around the same thing. One of the groups is always harder and then you have the slightly easier one, I think this is a really smart idea because of course not everybody is at the same level with there maths. When you know what group you are at you sign up with one note on the computer, the other really good thing is you can change your group each week. This week I chose the slightly harder group because I really want to push myself in maths, I am not a genius but  I really enjoy maths. When I got there the teacher told us we were going to be working on rounding, we were going to measure the year 6 lockers and then the year 7 lockers to see what the difference is between the two, we used depth, width and length. We rounded to the closet cm so when we had the three measurements we multiplied them and then we had the amount of cm the locker had. Then we did the same with the year 7 lockers and then we finally compared them, the year 7 lockers were very similar to the year 6’s locker but they still held more space.download

This week in inquiry, everybody was working on there ted style talk, that has a strong and personal connection with the reader. The teachers sent out a word document with the Introduction, the story and the message, the introduction is when the reader introduces what there story is about, so we all wrote on the word document what our story is about and some other bits and pieces. The story we wrote whatever our story is about, mine is about girls in those certain countries like Pakistan and that deserve to go to school because most men over there don’t think it is right, I wrote about how one girl got shot in the head by a man and she survived and is famous around the world for believing in herself and what is right. And then finally for the message we wrote what we want the audience to take away from our story and how we really want them to feel and react. I thought it was good that we did this task because when we are writing the talk we can always refer back to the document to use those same strong ideas. I am hoping that my ted talk conveys are really strong message, and I hope it makes the audience feel disgusted that, that is what happens in those poor countries.

In English, I finished publishing my piece called ”OCEAN” I think it looks really cool, I made a big blue wave with light blue paper and then I got some darker paper and put it around it, then I got sequins and stuck them on the outside, I am really proud of the finishing product of that piece. Then I started on this seed called seasons, it is all about the four seasons and what it is like to be and to do things in those seasons. I started writing it out like a normal piece and then I decided that it would be a cool idea to make it a Haiku poem. What is a Haiku poem I hear you ask-  a Haiku poem is formed by using certain syllables like ”5”7”5” so the top line would have 5 syllables and then the middle would have 7 and bottom would have 5. It doesn’t have to be exactly correct it could have a few extra syllables, but no more then two otherwise it wont seem like a Haiku poem. We were also working on similes and metaphors and how it is really good to incorporate them into your pieces of writing to make them sound better and more descriptive. A simile is ”like” or ”as” example-” it was hot as an oven today  ” she is like a bird that wants to fly away”. And then a metaphor is like a figure of speech that refers to one thing as being another thing, example- ”The world is a stage” ”She cut him down with her words” ”Miss T plants seeds of wisdom in our heads every day. I hope you now know what it is like to work at my school.

Week 6B Term 2- Reading log

 

Dear Readers,

This week I have an interesting challenge set out by my teacher, I must find out 8 interesting facts about the author of the book I am reading, using the back of the book and the internet. Then I must find a few other books that she has written, which will be easy because I have read many of her books. I will not be able to refer to the back of the book because it has a big sticker on it.

1-Her first book she wrote at the age of 20.

2-She is best known for her suspense novels.

3-She submitted her first story to a magazine at the age of 10.

4-She has written/published around 45 books.

5-She got the Margret Edwards award in 1992.

6-She sold her first story at the age of 13.

7-She taught journalism at the university of new Mexico.

8- In 1989 her daughter was murdered, so she related facts from her daughters death and soon published ”WHO KILLED MY DAUGHTER”

9-One of her books ”I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER” was made into a thriller movie.

10- She dropped out of college to pursue her dream of writing.

She has written many books but I will just mention a few. I know what you did last summer, killing Mr. Griffin, Daughters of Eve, who killed my daughter?, Locked in time and many more.who killed my daughter

Term 2 Week 5A- Learning post

This week I won’t be telling you about the main subjects I am going to tell you about the additional subjects, such as A.R.T, drama, P.E and sport. Unfortunately we don’t start A.R.T until next term, so I will only be talking about the other three closes.

Drama- In drama we had to choose a group of about 6 and an appropriate song, with an appropriate message, then we have to make up a dance to the song and perform in front of the class. In my group we have 3 girls and 3 boys, which is good because we are even, our song that we decided to choose was really easy, Warrior by D.J Havana Brown. The good thing about our song is it has Q’s so we know what to do in some parts of the song example- ” MARCH TO THE BEAT ”. We are things of having green and black stripes on our face because it is like a tribunal war song. Hopefully we will be able to find the Camo outfits or even just props. If our dance is really good we might be able to perform it in front of assembly.

P.E.- In P.E. we are working on attacking and defending games [Netball, Soccer and Basketball] we get a choice of what sprat we want to play. Our teachers want us to get thinking about those three different games, so say I was really good at basketball, then that’s good now I would need to work on my strategies and thinking of Soccer and Netball. [ That is what our teachers are looking for ]

SPORT- You may think that P.E. and SPORT are the same school it’s not, you all know what we do in P.E. but sport. In Sport we choose a sport to play-

I have chosen Netball, so every Thursday for the next 4 weeks we go out to our school netball courts and vs. different schools that are in our division, so last week we played Christian College Bellarine. We lost but it was still are really fun/competitive game. The same goes for the other sports, some people might of chosen footy so the school comes and vs. our school in footy.

Term 2 Week 5A Personal post

Hello fellow grammarians/bloggers,

This week I will be telling you about how much I LOVE COOKING. Every time I go to he supermarket, I always get a cake mixture or brownie or whatever tastes good, I love when you put the milk and the eggs on top of the main brown bit of the mixture, and then it just looks so awesome when it is being made. The best part is licking the spoon [ even though you aren’t really meant to].

Mum and I also cook this really like chicken and pesto pasta dish, I really like when you are stirring the chicken and you see it go from pink to a colour that I can’t explain. The other cool thing his hearing the chicken sizzling and popping, that sound really cool.

Very unfortunate times have come……….. our oven and stove are not working, so we cant cook cake or brownies or sausage rolls that we were planning to make yesterday. Our electricity went really funny yesterday, the lights were flickering our washing machine was making funny noises, and worst of all our oven and stove aren’t working.

 

Term 2 Week 5A-READING LOG

This week I will be telling you about six interesting words in the book. The six words have to describe a character, place or a feeling.

Nasty- Justin is this really mean kid at August’s school, he is really mean to this kid called jack who is hanging out with August. He puts mean notes in their lockers, and plays the cheese touch with them because August is deformed.

Kind-At the canteen at lunch time, summer always lets august sit next to her, not because she feels sorry or anything, she just finds him really funny, kind and nice.

Warm- August’s sisters EX best friend always finds there home really warm. Not warm as in hot cold, warm like there is never any yelling, they are always very inviting and loving. Is it because her parents have got divorced, and her mum won’t really talk to her, or is it that their family is just loving.

Courteous- Miles, Jack and Henry were really courteous to stand up to those seventh graders who were being really mean to August at school camp. They saved August from getting really hurt because the seventh graders were really tall, strong and mean.

Caring-August’s parents were always so caring of August, like when they decided that he should maybe go to school they did it for him, so he could make new friends and learn new things. They both new that he didn’t want to go to school, but when he finally went and was fitting in well they new that they had made the right decision.

 

Term 2 Week 5A- Passion Project

This week for my passion project, I have done some research on how to do a good reverse layup. Most of my film is done, like my reverse layup success and fails are done, I just need a bit more film of me doing it slowly, so I can show the audience how it is done.

When I have all my film, and everything is sorted, I can start to edit, which will only take a few days. For my film I think I might start it with a few shots going in, and then I will go over how I learnt to do it, and I will show myself doing the reverse layups, in success and fail. It is good to show your success and your fails, because then the audience/readers will see and understand how you have improved. At the end of my film I have a cool little thing that I’m doing, but you won’t be able to see it until week 9A when I post it on my blog page.

Term 2 Week 4B- Reading Log

This week readers I will tell you a book I have read before, and the sequence of events that it happened in.

 

The book that I will be telling you about is THE BOY IN THE DRESS, this is a very different and interesting book.

 

 

  1. The book introduces to this young boy whose mother left them when he was quite young, he lives with his brother and dad and they don’t talk about her anymore.
  2. He goes to the local news agency to by this VOGUE magazine, because he doesn’t like looking at all the models he just simply is really into fashion.
  3. One day he is playing football [A.K.A soccer] and he accidently kicks the ball into the headmaster’s office, the headmaster gets frustrated and sends him to detention.
  4. In detention he sees this girl that he has a little crush on, but unfortunately is two years older than him. They start talking and somehow fashion comes up, he finds out that she is so in love with fashion, and she finds out he reads VOGUE, but instead of finding that really weird the girl thinks it’s really cool.
  5. His family is really into soccer and when they play soccer they are all knocking each other over and having a good time, but when they finish it goes back to no hugging.
  6. The girl from detention decides to invite the boy over to talk about fashion, they go upstairs and she has all these really cool dresses that she has designed. They decide to try them on, she puts some makeup on the boy, and a wig, and he looks exactly like a girl.
  7. They come up with this mischievous plan, to make the boy dress up like a girl with a wig and shoes and a dress and go to school. They end up going to school pretending that she is this really cool new girl.
  8. It lasts for a few days until one of the boys somehow figures how or knocks off the boys wig, they get into big trouble for pretending to be a girl, and his dad gets angry at him. He tries to explain to his dad that he into fashion and cool sparkly dresses and those kind of things but he just doesn’t understand.
  9. He has his big football match coming up and he and his team all decide to wear dresses when they are playing, his lazy fat dad ends up turning to the grand final and is honestly a little confused. They win the grand final.
  10. After the game him and his dad have a little talk, and the dad accepts that, that is what his son is into, the dad and son hug, which is good because ever since the mum left they have never hugged.
