This weeks thyme

Who / What am I? Think about a character, setting or thing from a recently read book. Create at least 8 Who/What am I? quiz question. Ensure each clue adds information from the clue before, leading to the most obvious clue at the end.

Maths

In maths groups I went to Mrs Stafford’s session were we played a game. It was a memory game were there are 16 paper card, 8 with a number sentence on them and 8 with a  number. The  number sentence had the focus of the order you do the Maths operations, BIDMAS (BIDMAS stands for Brackets Indices Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction).  🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

English

In English I have almost finished my draft of Times Up, I’ve just been chipping away at it and its almost finished!  I have just written about the core of time breaking and explain how that must be slowing time down. she has about 3 minuets to save the world, anyway that’s what I have been doing in my English lessons this week.

Inquiry
In inquiry I have been getting rid of my bad footage and formatted my good footage. Formatting is were you change a film from one film type to another, The reason I had to format change is because coral doesn’t take the type of film the camera I was using took, so I had to change it using a program called Format Factory. 🙂

maths 

in problem solving we had to hand our books into our homeroom teachers. I have completed all my questions, the two I fount toe hardest were the one were you have to find the distance from Bluff to Emerald and the one were A high School installs an intercom system. All 20 classroom 2 staffrooms and office are individually connected. How many connections are there? 

English

in English this week I continued with my tick tock piece. I am about to write about the core of time breaking and explain how that must be slowing time down. we didn’t have much English because we were on an inquiry excursion 1.2 days witch I will tell you about ⤵  😉

in inquiry this week we had two excursions to get the footage for our Advertising film project, the first one on Tuesday we went to Supa-Tramp and on Wednesday we went to Torque, at supa-tramp I did the rock climbing and Emily (my partner for the two days) filmed, thenSONY DSC she bounced and I filmed. when we got back I dumped all the footage on my laptop. Then at Torque  just filmed as we went, when we saw something we liked we filmed it. when we got back we just dumped all the footage on our laptops and went home.

fb25c7205ba14dd2baad9aa2e5f29195When I was younger my favourite book was Clifford the big red dog but I couldn’t find the book so I’m doing mine on Thumbelina my second favourite, a story about a tiny girl who got kidnapped by two toads and then saved by some fish. Then she went to a mouse’s house, then saves a bird then fly’s away on the bird and marries the king and turns into a fairy.

Preparation for BOOK WEEK: Next week we have Book Week. What was your favourite story / book when you were younger? Find the book/ story, answer the following question and have it ready to bring next week to share with the class.

it’s a book about a tiny girl who turns into a fairy and marries a king. what little girl wouldn’t love this story.

My mum because my dad got home to late to read to me.

about 3 or 4

Thumbelina because she is the only character who is there for more than two or three pages.

iproject | week 5 and 6

hello this fortnight for my iproject I have been getting used to working with both Scoobies by making a lot of them with different amounts of strands. I have also been working with other bracelet making strings, I also made a bracelet just improvising using some of the skills I picked up from last terms iproject. Because we are about half way through our iprojects I am going to switch to making bracelets from thread. I have started to explore a website called friendship-bracelets.net witch has heaps of designs.  🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

In problem solving I have finished last weeks two problems. The first one is about a pipe, this is the question. at first I thought the answer was 28 because 20 divided by 5 is 4 and 7 times 4 is 28. Then I realized that to cut a length of pipe into 4 pieces you would have to make 3 cuts, and for the 7 pieces you would have to make 6 cuts. So the answer is 30 not 28.230063-bigthumbnail

in English this week I have continued with my tick tock piece. I am up to were he enters the grand clock. next I will add him seeing it, a magical object that he needs to fix before time ends.

Inquiry

in inquiry this week we were mostly preparing for our student lead conference or SLC’s so I will just tell you about that. So because this is the inquiry section I will tell you about the inquiry part of my SLC, so first I showed my mum how to attach a camera to a tripod witch all went well. Then I showed her a web cam and the clicker that goes with it. I also showed her the cameras that we used in intro to photography and some of the rules to go with it.

Developing a Narrative: Choose a fiction book you have read recently. Think about the stages of this narrative – its Orientation, the Complication and the Resolution. What happened in each stage?

I am doing my reading log on a book called the girl from snowy river.

Orientation  

It starts off with an orphaned 16 year old girl named Flinty who is doing her best to bring up her younger siblings, it has been almost a year since world war 1 and Andy her older brother is spending the year droving.

 

Complication She makes an amazing horse ride, just as good as the man from snowy river but because she is a girl nobody does anything but the man from snowy river got his one poem.

After she does her ride she brakes her back and the rest of the book is all about her recovery.

Resolution  In the end her back heals and she is happy again.  🙂 🙂 🙂

Maths

In problem solving this week we got two problems, but the first one was very easy and I solved it in about 4-5 minuets. The second was a different story, it was very difficult. the second problem was: A high School installs an intercom system. All 20 classroom 2 staffrooms and office are individually connected. How many connections are there?  I found this problem difficult but I got there in the end, my answer is 271

English

In English I am continuing with my peace about time called Times Up. I am almost half way, so far I have got my seed done and I have gotten to finishing the introduction. Baily has just about finished her draft on the first part, we’ll se how the series goes. 

Inquiry

In inquiry this week we have been working on our promo film shot list. In the shot list there are 4 parts one labeled Duration were we wright the amount of time that shot should go for the next is labeled Shot type this is were you have to write what type of shot you are planning to do. the third one is labeled Location (point of interest) this is were you write were you will be filming, and the last one is labeled Action witch is were you write what you will be doing

iproject| week 3 and 4

This fortnight you need to have a confirmed idea/project. You are now require to make a Plan of Attack for your project.

What to do,

For this iproject I am making Scoobies (Bracelets made from stretchy plastic strings). I will be just making some and trying new better more complex bracelets.

When to do it,

I will just do it bit by bit, and see how I go. there are lots of things you can do with scoobies and I have lots of Scoobie strings so I will just go with what I feel.

and How to do it.

I will just kind of do it, I will use YouTube to find out more patens and just see what happens.

Maths

we got our second problem this week about a ball that is dropped from 128m and it bounces half the height it was dropped from and how far it will have traveled by the time it strikes the ground for the sixth time. I was going pretty well until I realized I had forgotten to add when the ball goes up so I doubled it and took 128 to get my answer 380

English

In English I have conferenced my Fire peace, Everyone seemed to like it and I will publish it soon. I have started a new seed called Times Up. Baily and I are making a kind of series about Time starting with her story The pocket watch, Then mien Times Up. we may or may not make more.

inquiry

in inquiry we have been asked by Tourism Geelong and Bellarine to make a short advertising film for Geelong, it will be titled By kids for kids. this film is to Advertise fun things for kids to do in the summer. I can’t wait to get started!! 🙂
