My learning so far this year

  • What have you been learning about in Inquiry?  So far in inquiry I have learnt about photography, film and we have also started audio. In photography I have learnt lot of rules I will put my power point in another  post when I workout how. in film I have learnt how to make a film and an interesting fact about film making is that 60% is prep, now that’s a lot. in audio I have learnt about all the different types of microphones like the shot gun mic it is used to aim the sound in the direction of what you are filming so you don’t get all the noise from the camera crew.
  • What have you been learning about in English?

In English I have learnt how to write a seed in more depth. I have learnt how to use commas and how they can change the meaning of a sentence.

What have you been learning about in Maths?

in maths I have learnt about roman numerals, e.g. I=1  V=5   X=10. you have to put the bigger number at the start unless you are writing say 4 were there is another letter that means one more than the number you are writing so you would wright IV

What have you been learning about in your specialists subjects?

In music I have been learning how to play keyboard. I am not very good but I found G. In drama we have been learning about improvisation and theater sports.

me as a reader

Me as a Reader:  Record some information about your reading habits and what you enjoy reading. You might include; what genres you read, reading materials, your favourite authors, your favourite book, whether you read frequently or a little.

I love to read. I read a bit too long sometimes but in the end I manage to put my book down. I enjoy reading history books, fantasy, school stories and Roald Dahl (if that counts as a genre). I go off and on what I like out of those, at the moment I am enjoying history books from around the 1500.

this weeks reading log

Setting Analysis: Write about the setting found in one of the books you read this week. Use adjectives to describe it. Have you ever been in a similar setting? When and why?

This week I started a new book. It is called Elizabeth and is about princes Elizabeth. This book is set in 1544 and is written in diary form. Elizabeth has been banished to a country house at Hatfield. From the description Hatfield seemed like a nice place but her banishment has just been lifted and they moved back to Hampton court. they haven’t been at court long but I picture it as a massive pales with a pretty big quad in the middle.51CXrzT0EwL[1]

my book

Character Analysis: Write about a character from one of the books you read this week. Include personality aspects, physical attributes, what you liked/ didn’t like about them as well as an event this character was involved in.

Physical attributes

My book is written in diary form so I don’t know what she looks like. The main character is called Lady Jane Grey. The story is set in the 15th century. I imagine that she wears long pretty dresses made of maybe velvet with some gold on them. She probably wears expensive jewelry and possibly a real fur coat. This is because she comes from a very rich family. It doesn’t have a description of her looks because it is a diary.

Lady Jane Grey is usually kind but sometimes she has a hot temper. Her parents want her to be Queen but she doesn’t want to, when her mum hears her say she doen’t want to marry her cousin and become Queen, she doesn’t speak to her for a whole week which must be pretty hard for her. Also she hates her parents because they treat her very harshly and when she is sent to live with other people (witch happens a lot) she notices how much nicer they are.

what I did and didn’t like about my character

I like how she doesn’t complain about anything even when her parents try to make her queen. I don’t like it how she just hates her parents and cant talk to them about anything.

an event she was involved in

well her dad is a duchess and her cousin is King so she is involved in lots of roil events. She doesn’t know this yet but she is more involved than she wants to be.

138434-ml-869640This week I have been reading Lady Jane Grey. It is a history book written in diary form about a Tudor Lady from 1547-1554. This book is about a girl hoes parents want her to marry her cousin the king so she can be queen but she hates  the idea of being queen.
