This is an interesting book and has a lot going on throughout the story line. I am about 3/4 of the way through and it has an interesting narration style. I rate the book a 8/10
Hello this is my IProject post
What editing techniques did you employ and why? I made my film a version of a story clip this means it consists of pictures and voice overs or text on screen. I chose this because I think it is a great way to demonstrate how to do or make something, it also good for tutorials.
What editing software/app did you use? I used Corel while editing this film and I think next time I will find a different software to use because Corel is quite laggy and delayed.
Did you try something new? If so, what? The main thing I tried that was new in this project was making a story clip with text on screen instead of voice overs. I chose T.O.S because I think it fits my film well.
Did you learn anything new about editing? In this project I learnt that if you have text on screen it is quite important to have a contrast from the backdrop compared to the text so the writing is clear, you also need to make sure that the writing appears long enough to read.
Hello this is my IProject post.
On Saturday I went to the hardware store to collect all the things I would need for my IProject. The main and most difficult problem was that unfortunately some important parts I would need to create the project are not easily attainable in the area, I decided to make a section of the project the entire project. I chose a silicon mixture that is very moldable and is the consistency of play-doh, over night it cures and becomes a stretchy moldable rubber.
The success in the project so far have been making several things such as a custom stress ball that is the perfect shape of my hand, half a screw ice cube mold, a bouncy ball and half a circle ice cube mold.
The first attempt was very difficult and didn’t cure properly and was a complete fail.
The next thing I plan to create with the silicon mixture is an eraser but first I will need to test if the rubber works as an eraser.
In Inquiry this term we started a project about helping endangered animals. We started this project by looking on the Melbourne zoo page and picking one of the sos ten (ten extremely endangered animals at the Melbourne zoo). Once we picked one of the animals we begun to research them and write down facts about them. After we had lots of interesting facts we all started to write scripts that would make the reader care for the animal and convince them to try to help. I picked the Philippine crocodile because they are the most endangered crocodile species and are very interesting.
After we had finished writing all our scripts we traveled to Melbourne zoo to collect footage of our animal and learn lots more about them. Some things that went well on the excursion were, getting all the footage needed, visiting and learning about even more of the SOS 10 and we ha perfect weather so it wasn’t too cold or too hot. The problems we had were, missing a few of the animal talks because we couldn’t find our way around towards the start of the day and loosing the cameras at the end of the day so we didn’t have any footage to use.
The first step in editing was to cull footage since we didn’t have any footage I collected photos and videos from the internet and luckily other groups had collected some footage from the zoo that I was able to use.The next step in editing was to record my voice overs, I recorded them in several parts so I could have pauses in between sentences to make the film more dramatic. Next I put all the footage and audio into corel to start editing. After all the video clips were in the right place I lined up the audio tracks to match parts of the film and left a few couple second gaps in the audio every now and then to have more of an impact on the viewer.
Once we had finished films we put them around the room for people to watch and give feedback here is the feedback I received.

Hello this is my weekly reflection.
Today during maths we started a problem called “The Ladder Problem”. We started by looking at a “five” ladder made with popsicle sticks on the ground and we had to draw it in our books in the sections we saw it. Next we described how we saw the ladder in words so someone who could not see the ladder could create it. Here is my description. I see two sets of 6 sticks placed in a line vertically with a gap in between each set, get 5 green sticks and place them horizontally touching each connection between the sticks on the vertical lines.
Today during writing I published a piece called fear. This piece was a poem using a structure where each line was a sense such as see, smell and feel. Using the structure, you pick an emotion and describe it using five senses. I decided to write a poem because I wanted to challenge my self and I usually write descriptive pieces. I decided to publish the piece on a simple black piece of paper with white writing because I think it matches the piece really well.
During Inquiry this week we submitted our first drafts for our zoo conservation film. After we had submitted we put our computers out with a feedback sheet for others to watch and write feedback. Some of the areas that people thought were great were the choice of music and that the film captured the “save our species” message. The area I needed to improve on was making the audience care for the animal. I attempted to do this by adding pictures of the baby crocodile.
Hello this post is my weekly reflection.
During maths this week we started to learn about simple algebra. We started by looking at a function machine when a name went in it came out with different letters and we had to discover a rule for all the names that had went in. Algebra is replacing numbers in equations with letter such as x, y and z. The letters in an equation are variables meaning they can be any number. For example if 1 went in to the function machine and 2 came out and 5 went in and 10 came out the rule using algebra could be, Y(1 or 5) x 2 = A(2 or 10), the rule should work with any number that went in to the machine.
In Inquiry this term we started a new project about helping endangered animals. After writing all our scripts we traveled to Melbourne zoo to collect footage of our animal and learn lots more about them. We are now up to creating films featuring our animal and editing them to make the audience care for the animal. The final step in the process will be to record our scripts and put them onto the film and then share.
In writing on Monday I conferenced my piece called “CLAW” The main feedback I wanted to receive was if my audience could figure out what the piece was describing without being told. I wanted this feedback because while writing the piece I decided not to say what it was about and try to set the scene with description. Once I finished reading I told them what it was all about a claw machine they all understood everything. After that I decided to reveal what was happening at the very end of the piece so once the reader gets to the end they will have a sudden moment of realisation.
Hello this is my first IProject post for the term.
I have decided that this term i will make a tennis pole (a pole with string attached to the top with a tennis ball on the end that you can hit around.). The purpose of this project is to learn skills such as using certain tools and what materials will be needed for certain parts of the creation. My project is for people who enjoy sports like tennis and fun/competetive games. During this project i am looking forward to the construction of the project and using and testing the final product.
The first step of the process is to create a plan of what parts i will need, what tools i will need and the process i will make the creation.
After creating a plan i will be to buy all the parts needed such as wood poles and string.
Next i will gather the appropriate tools that will be needed to make this project.
After that i will follow the plan to create the design.
Once i have finished making the tennis pole i will test to see if i need to make any modification.
Then i will paint the creation and i will be finished.
I am exited to begin this process and to test the final product.
Hello this is my choice day reflection
The activities we could participate were bottle rockets, knitting, SimCity, countdown, flight school, mosaic madness, long division, garden making, acting out and sewcializing.
The activity I was put in to was countdown. In this activity we had several materials such as icy pole sticks, 1 meter of tape, rubber bands, milk lids, paper and glue. With these materials we had to create a device to fling a table tennis ball accurately into a container from different points. At first I tried to create a sort of catapult but after trying extensively to create something I decided to create a simpler design. I thought one of the most simple designs to make would be a slingshot so I attempted that. I used icy pole sticks to make the frame and a rubber band glued in the right position to propel the ball when it was pulled back and released. This design worked alight but it was not consistent or accurate. To fix that problem I had with accuracy I created a funnel with paper to straiten the line the ball travels in this actually made the problem worse because the paper would lean downwards as soon as I let go to fire flicking the ball down and most of the time the g force would keep the ball in the tube. I enjoyed this activity because we had the choice of what to make and how we would make it. I also enjoyed working with other classing and seeing what ideas they came up with. The two main designs we used were slingshots and different forms of catapults. The feedback I have for this activity is to maybe have more challenges for your device, different things to shoot and more materials to use for our devices. Overall I enjoyed this activity and it was very fun. If we were to do choice day again I think we should add a P.E activity or some form of sport like dodge ball and this would be good to do with different age levels in each team.
Here are the activities.
Hello this is my IProject expo post.
I think my presentation went smoothly and pretty well. I presented what I had learnt and made I received some interesting questions such as what was the most difficult part and what some code lines did or meant. My presentation went for about 7 minutes and then I changed the size and variables of the coding to experiment and show people what happened for the rest of the time.
I presented my test designs and my favorite design. My test design was a coffin using the code “hull()” this fills in the space between each shape.
The most challenging thing was learning and remembering what to code because if you get one letter or symbol wrong it can change your whole design.
My favourite design was a wheel that can also be a saw blade with a few changes of code.
Hello this is a post about making promo films.
email > the beginning of the process was when we received an email from Tracey at “advertisement for Geelong and Bellerine” she asked us if we would like to make an promo film for Geelong.
research > the next step was to analyze films made by their company and see how they were made. We discovered that the film was made in chapters of each location.
Location > next we had to decide the locations we would get our footage from. We decided on Supa-Tramp, Torquay, leisure link, the waterfront, a park and Balyang,
Partners > after that we got into film crews. The crews were set up with two from each class and each two were a separate group. Each small group went to a different location to film. Each small group made a shotlist of what the were going to film what type of shot it was and how long the clip would go for.
Production > During production our class went to Supa Tramp and Torquay. At supa tramp we filmed dodgeball, trampolines, rock climbing, basketball and the air bag. At Torquay we filmed beach soccer, the water, parks and ice cream.
Culling > After we had downloaded all the footage onto our computers we began culling. Culling is when you delete the bad footage that might be shaky accidental or photo bombed. When we had only our best footage we shared it onto a usb for the rest of the group to use, we also received their footage.
Editing > When we had all the footage we started editing our films. They had to be in chapters of each location and with around 2-5 second clips. Each location had to go for 30 seconds so we had a minute and 30 second film. We also needed music that fitted the film.
Feedback > Once we had all finished our first draft we put our computers around the room with a feedback sheet. Then we all wrote feedback for each other. We used a system of ticks when if you gave three ticks they were doing an awesome job if you gave two they were doing a good job and if you gave one they had sort of addressed the section such as is it fun or does the music match the mood.
Implemented Feedback > After we finished changing our film and improving it from the feedback we got some more on our final draft. These feedback forms will help the teachers decided which films we will be sending through.
