IProject – Week 3A

Hello this is my second IProject post.

I have decided for my IProject I will be making a song in mixcraft from the sounds from the classroom and possibly a video to accompany it. I will use sounds such as pens clicking, pencil cases opening and lockers closing.

The first step will be to record sounds, I will complete this step by recording a few sounds each day in the booths for the next few days. I will be recording sounds such as keys being pressed and a pencil writing.

After that I will make the song. The song will be made in mixcraft and I am planning to make the song entirely form the sounds I record and go for about three minutes or longer.

If I complete the song too early I will begin the video, the video will be videos of the actions that made the sounds replayed when the sound is replayed in the song.

I am quite exited to begin my song and share my final product.

Reading Log – Week 3A

Hello this is my weekly reading log.

BOOK – Demon Dentist   TASK – PMI (plus minus interesting) on a character

The character I will choose from my book is Raj the news agent.

PLUS = He gives free lollies to the children, he helps the main character a lot and he’s nice to everyone

MINUS = His shop’s really messy and things aren’t in there place, lots of his food is out of date and most his food is half eaten.

INTERESTING = His wife eats some of the food in the shop at night and his wife falls through the roof at one point.

I am a few pages away from finishing this book and I am exited to finish it.

Learning Reflection-Week 3A

Hello this post is my weekly learning reflection.

MATHS

During maths today I completed a few worded maths problems. For example “there is 18 islands on each map and you have 12 maps, how many maps are there all together?”. For these questions you take each number in the questions and times them together, then the question becomes 18 x 12. I figured out the answer by splitting the questing making it 10 x 10 = 100 and 2 x 8 = 16, 100 + 16 = 11

ENGLISH/WRITING

During writing this week I wrote a seed about snakes. I chose snakes because I am scared of them which means I can put more emotion into the piece. I think my piece will be about me being glued to the floor while a snake slowly approaches, the piece will be only a few seconds long and a small period of time but I will put as much description as possible into the small scene.

INQUIRY

In inquiry today we found out what we will be doing as our next task. Our next task will be to create a small film promoting Geelong. The films will be made by kids for kids. We will film the most fun and interesting attractions and places to go in Geelong for someone who has never been here. Once these films are made some of them will be put on a website that purely advertises for Geelong.

 

Reading Log – Week 2B

Goal-Find some morals and messages form a recently read book.

Book-Worlds Worst Children.

The main moral in this book is to not be a bad child and not to have bad habits. For example one of the short stories is called Sofia sofa, all Sofia does is sit on the couch and watch tv which is a bad habit and at the end of the story she gets stuck to it and cannot be separated. All the other stories have a child with a bad habit and at the end something bad happens to them because of their habit.

I enjoyed this book because you can read a story each night but it has enough stories to read for a while.

 

 

 

 

Learning Reflection – Week 2B

Hello this is my weekly learning reflection.

MATHS

During maths today we practiced a strategy called carrying. When using the carrying strategy you work on each place value column separately. If your problem is addition and the place value column your working on reaches over ten you write the number in the ones column and above the next column number write the value in the second. My favourite strategies are compensation and carrying.

ENGLISH / WRITING

During writing this week we learned about procedural text. A procedural text is a piece of writing telling people how to do something in steps. We learned that they contain methods, a goal, commands and sometimes pictures of the process. I have just finished my procedural text called “How To Throw A Frisbee. While writing my goal was to write the steps very clearly so even if you have never seen a Frisbee you should be able to throw it by reading my steps.

INQUIRY

During the past four inquiry sessions we have been working on information narratives about digital citizenship. The first step to writing our narratives was to choose a section of the digital citizenship footprint. The section my partner and I chose was profile (only use your first name and do not give away your personal information ). The next step was to write your narrative.

The final step of the writing process was to get feedback from three people as you can see from the three names at the bottom of the story.

Next we chose appropriate pictures to assist our story and after that a song. We added these components into corel and begun recording our story.

 

 

Digital Citizenship-Narratives

During the past four inquiry sessions we have been working on information narratives about digital citizenship. I think we worked well and efficiently and were able to produce a pretty good final product.

Reading Log – Week 1 – Term3

Hello this is my weekly reading log.

The book I am currently reading is “Worlds Worst Children” by David Walliams.

The genres I would like to read this term are comedy because I enjoy reading funny books, fiction narrative so I can learn some fact about a certain topic and science fiction because I have never read those types of books.The reading routine I will follow this term is the same as last term, that routine is to read every night I like this routine because I keep my books next to my bed which reminds me when I get into bed. The other reading goal I have is to read from at least three different authors to see other types of writing from different people.

Learning Reflection-Week 1 – Term 3

Hello this post is a reflection on what subjects we have had this week.

MATHS

During maths this week we have focused on a problem call building views. In building views you have a 4 x 4 grid and 30 blocks. There is a diagram of the grid with a certain number in each square, whatever number is in the square is the amount of blocks that you place there. After you have placed all the blocks you look at the blocks on a side view and draw what shape it is. Once we had done every diagram we looked at a drawing of the blocks on there side and had to re-create it without the diagram. I think I worked well because I completed all the diagrams and had a few variations for the last problem.

ENGLISH

During English today we focused on our seeds. We talked about why the seed is an important part of the writing process. The seed is important because it helps you get all your ideas down, it makes the draft writing much easier and it is 40% of the writing process

INQUIRY

During Inquiry yesterday we learnt about how people communicate. I learnt that there are 4 stages to communication, they are DISCUSS, DEBATE, AURGUE and FIGHT. After we learnt this we got into groups of three and with one director and two actors. The actors had a topic and would progress through the stages at the command of the director. I think I worked well and had a great session.

IProject Post – Week 1 – TERM 3

Hello this post is the first post of my new IProject.

The ideas I have had so far for this IProject is to make a song on mixcraft from the noises in the classroom overlaid and replayed, I also might make my IProject to learn some tricks with my remote control helicopter, I could also make my IProject to reach level 15 on Pokémon GO and finally if my birds lay eggs I will record the progression of the egg and eventually the baby.

I could make the song by recording people in the sound booths making various noises like sharpening a pencil or tapping a keyboard. Then I would edit the noises into a song.

I would learn tricks on my helicopter by practicing I would learn tricks like a trustfall or flying it really low to the ground.

I would level up on Pokémon GO by laying and I could record what Pokémon I caught and where I went.

I would record the progression of the egg by taking daily photos or a constant video sped up and edited.

I am really exited to begin my next IProject.
