As a parent it can be mildly terrifying when your child starts talking about Snap Chat or Tik Tok or some other platform you’ve never heard of, particularly if they sound like they’ve been using it for years. Information around these social communication apps can be hard to find and the landscape moves quickly. As a parent it is important to know about the platforms your child will want to join and their pros and cons so that your family can make informed decisions and set ground rules. Children’s reliance on these platforms has increased exponentially throughout the lockdown period and while supporting them to communicate with their friends is important, so is making sure they are making good decisions and are safe in their interactions.
