Lesson 2 Chemical and Physical Change
Today year 6 had their second science lesson on term 3. In this session we learnt about Chemical and Physical . Physical change is when a substance changes its physical form but still retains the same properties and chemical change is when two substances are mixed together to make something new. After we learnt the difference between physical and chemical we got a sheet with 19 questions on it. Then we had to circle if it was chemical or physical. I got 13/19. I learnt that physical change is very different to chemical change but the ones that seem obvious are really the opposite of what you think.
For my passion project this term i have decided to build a PC. The technology’s that are going into this project include:
- Memory (RAM)
- Graphics processing unit (GPU)
- Storage ( SSD)
- Power supply unit
- System cooling
- Operating system
My Project is targeted at people who are interested in PC’S/gaming or are looking into building there own PC. I’m looking forward to working on this with my dad and challenging myself to make it the best it can be.
in Maths this week we worked on a project where we had to make 35 shapes with six squares and here is how i went
Challenge 2 Sorting
Challenge 3 Cubes
Challenge 4 Symmetry
1 Reflective Symmetry
2 Reflective Symmetry and 2 Rotational Symmetry
Challenge 5 Area Puzzles
In is challenge we had to make a 3×6 rectangle using the shapes
In maths we started a project called “Folding Polygons” this involves drawing a net and putting string through it so when you pull the strings your net folds into a actual shape. Here is what i did
1. Rectangular Prism
The rectangular prism has 6 Faces, 8 Vertices and 12 Edges
The Cube 6 Faces, 8 Vertices and 12 Edges
This term we are focusing on two things Ted Talks and Passion Projects. But this is about my Passion Project for this term
What i am going to do for my passion project is… PC Upgrading. This means working with my PC/setup to improve and upgrade it. The technologies i am going to be using includes a lot of things, Like my PC and my monitor, things like that. But the things i am going to be using to film/edit are A Camera and Premiere Pro. My target audience is people that are interested in computers.
What have you achieved so far?
So far i have experimented with taking time-lapse videos as well as experimented with using Velcro to cable manage.
What type of learning have you done to up skill yourself?
So far i have learnt how to hide all wires below my desk and i have also learnt how to add custom smooth transitions for my film.
What successes or challenges have you experienced so far?
So far my biggest successes was when i learnt how to install my monitor and my biggest challenge was trying to follow the cables when trying to organise them because they kept getting out of hand.
What is the next step for you?
The next step for me is to collect more footage for my project film and by then hopefully my cable management is done so i can move onto something else.
This week we learnt how to use Green Screens with Mr Galluccio, Ms Williamson and Mrs Watson. Here are a few things i learnt:
