For our last subject in design we are doing DRONES! We have split into groups and mine was Harriet, Abbie ,Ashaiya and me. First we started with tutorials so we new how the coding for it worked.(and it defiantly helped us understand it!)After that we had a go at flying the which was so fun! We learnt how to control there movements and also how to make them the drones record it on the app! The challenges were defiantly the coding part even though i thought it wouldn't be to hard because we have already used it in humming bird but is wasn't that easy because we had different code for the drones. Here is what our drones look like! Also i have code for a course called Drone Dash that you can program your drone in snap! Here is my code for the square project! Overall i have really enjoyed doing drones and i hope to do it again! Quinn<3
For the past 2 weeks half of year 5 have been programming a devise called “hummingbird” (don’t worry it is not a real bird!) We broke into groups and mine was Ashaiya, Abbie and me. We decided to make a Bunny and followed a detailed tutorial because we had no idea what to do!
Here is what the bunny looks like, it has a purple light nose with a ping pong ball on the top(to make it brighter) We also had to program it to be that colour. Next there is the ears which can twitch up and down. Now that program was a VERY HARD THING! and it annoyed us SO much but with a bit of Camron’s help we were able to make it work! We were SO happy! The eyes, mouth, whiskers and the cute bow were added features to make it look more like a bunny!
As you can see there are many cords coming out of the bunny but these cords are only there for 2 things which is the light nose(the lonely cord on the right) and the ears, which is the rest of the cords(i know a lot of cords for 2 ears!).
Overall i have really enjoyed doing hummingbird in design and i hope to learn more along the way!

Every week this term we are having a design a design day, and i am really enjoying them. We have been using a robot called a “Sphero”. I also had the help from Shayleigh! (my partner)A Sphero looks like this…
When we got the Sphero’s we were set a page of challenges to do. First we got used to controlling them by driving them in shapes. Then the next step was to code it to make the same shape we just did with the coding blocks.( which was a much harder! ) The latest task we did is called “THE MAZE RUNNER” and we made a maze and we have to code the Sphero to go though it successfully. Shayleigh and I paired up with Ashaiya and Harriet and made ours have a love story so we connected our mazes.

The progress of making this was pretty challenging considering i have never made one before, but I did get some help from my dad which was good!
First I had no idea what to start with or what the end resolute would even look like. But I decided to start with something and just add on as I went. I started with dominos and that did not work out for me because they kept knocking over and they weren’t strong enough to tap the thing that I wanted it to. So I decided to scrap that idea. Next i found a marble run that we had in the carboards and that worked pretty well! Now this was the hardest things that happened in the whole prosses! I wanted to make some sort of track that the marble could go down at the end of the marble run. I tried it once and it did not work because it was the same level the whole time which means there is not enough gravity or momentum for the marble to move. So my dad told me that I needed it to be on a slope and have it start higher. I was really annoyed about that because that meant that i needed to reorganize my whole track. But luckily my amazing dad helped my do it and that worked after a few try’s, after that i made the end of it a bit of acting that you will see in the video!!

Here is my code for my speaker project and i have made the music myself.
How it works is that when you press an A,B.A+B or shake the music will come
out of the speaker with a different song every time!
It was so fun to figure out and use it! But it was challenging at first because I
had no help from Mr McKie.(it is also really fun to annoy your class mates!!!!)

This is my first time on MicroBit and i am obviously still learning, but i have also learnt a bit too! On MicroBit there are many tutorials that helps you learn all the tips and tricks to the program!
Rock, Paper, Scissors
This is my code for the rock,paper,scissors game i did on MicroBit.
How this code works at any time you shake the Bit there will either be rock, paper or scissors on the screen and you can also do it with a friend!
This code was challenging at first but got easier as i went on (Ashaiya also helped me!).
Smile and Frown
This was one of my favourite tutorials!
This is how it works: If you press “A” it will come up as a smile and if you press a “B” it will come up as a frown it is so fun to play around with!
Overall it was a pretty easy code but it was sill so fun!

Misfortune is a very old word first used in the 1500 and it is 520 years of age.
It means Bad luck or an unfortunate event.
Some synonyms of the word are bad luck, ill luck , mischance and mistake.
I chose this word because misfortune is something that happens in everyday life and also i had heard the word but i have not really thought about the meaning of the word.
My makey makey project is going to be a Q&A about a well known singer…That’s right it’s Billie Eilish! How i plan to do it is i will have a base probably cardboard or just something hard. Then i think i will have a picture of her as a background a stick it there , The title will obviously be: Billie Eilish Q&A and there will be questions and underneath them i will have green and black shapes and when you press them an answer will be said by coming out of my computer. The shapes will be placed all around it the and i am trying to make it look pretty all at the same time!

This is my StrawPaino
It is called a StrawPaino because it has strawberry paper. It is a walking piano too with means that instead of using your hands you can use your feet! (which makes it a lot more fun, well i think.)
This is what my scratch screen looks like…And this is my code…
I also programmed the strawberry to change to a different dance move every time I play a note on my StrawPaino. There is 5 notes on it. I found it hard to Make it really look like a Piano. To make all of the keys the same i got a side of a big book and it made a crease and folded it on the crease. I hope you liked my blog post and i will see you soon! Bye!
In this project i did not know that i could use the pins so i was try for so long and then i found it out and it was so much easier !
But at the start it was really easy to do the first controller but the second controller it was sooooooo hard before i found out what to do.
The challenging thing was to keep trying and not to give up because at the end i felt so good when i did it !
