Plot Analysis – Ice Dragon by George R.R. Martin

FROM ANCIENT TIMES, THE ICE DRAGON WAS A CRETURE OF LEGEND AND FEAR. WHEN IT FLEW OVERHEAD, IT LEFT IN ITS WAKE DESOLATE, FROZEN LAND. NO MAN HAD EVER TAMED ONE.

Storyline/Plot:

This story starts with a girl named Adara. She was born in the worst freeze/storm that anyone could remember. She had first glimpsed the ice dragon when playing in the snow, long after other children had fled the cold. She was not afraid, for she was a winter child. Due to her time of birth, she had a certain connection with the ice, snow, rain and most certainly the Ice dragon. In the fourth year she had seen it, Adara touched the dragon. in her fifth year, she followed it. in the sixth year, she rode the ice dragon.

War was brought to Adara’s home village and was forced to make the decision. Leave her father and go with her uncle to a safer place, stay and most likely die.
Unable to decide at this age, She ran to the forest in hope of safety and time to relax and clear her mind.

While there, she was saved by the ice dragon. With it’s wings of steel, it flew her over the village. Fire and smoke covered the sky. It took her to a safer place, far away from the war.

My Thoughts

I think that this book is very strong on emotions and is a great book to read. When I read it I picked up the book, read it till the end, and put it on my shelf and just thought about it for a second. My dad did the same thing when he read The Ice dragon.

It is a very touching piece and I recommend it to anyone who likes the genre fantasy because it fits into that category very well.

Over all this is a great book. If you ever get the chance to read this, I strongly recommend you to.

My Character Analysis

My Character Analysis will be on a popular book which has recently been made into a movie. Snoopy. Snoopy was written by Charles M. Schulz and I have picked one of the books from the Peanuts Series to base the events and storyline on. It is called Man’s Best friend. I have chosen the main character Charlie Brown. Charlie brown is a kid with low self esteem and cares very much for his dog Snoopy. He has many friends although they kind of ignore his opinions sometimes. He feels as though every thing is going wrong for him. I like him because I think he can relate to people in the real world and he is really funny. I kind of feel sympathy for him when I read of his misfortunes because I imagine if I was in that same position. He enjoys flying a kite but no matter how hard he tries, it is never the right time to fly it. He still keeps persisting. Charlie Brown is always trying even though he almost never wins.

I think snoopy is a really creative cartoon/book series and if you haven’t read or seen one of the books yet, I think you should go down to the library and grab a book right now.

My Easter

For Easter I got a rabbit Onzie, a t-shirt with a rabbit on it, a t-shirt with a dog wearing glasses on it, a new pair of jeans, a new pair of PJ’s and a book along with a whole lot of chocolates from my parents and family. it was a great Easter.

Me as a Reader

Me as a Reader

My favorite genres are mystery, diaries, comedy and just any good book. I read in my spare time and LOVE it! I think reading is a choice for people to be what they really aren’t. If you have a boring plain lifestyle, books take you on an adventure from time travelling around space to crime fighting and mystery solving. It’s a great way to get your imagination going before bed or to just take yourself somewhere that nothing ever has before.

My favorite authors are really hard to choose because there are so many. Paul Jennings, Jacqueline Harvey, I can’t even think of them all straight off the top of my head. I only just learned today that Jackie French has dyslexia and all her words are jumbled up and so confusing that the editors have to feed through it all to make it readable to her fans. Personally I think that is pretty amazing. It just goes to show that if you truly love something, and have talent for it, nothing can get in the way of that.

Reading is good because in a movie, you can’t use imagination. It is set on the screen and only uses your eyes to watch. Reading uses imagination (brain/mind) eyes (to follow the words) and your limbs (to hold the book or to turn the pages). Reading is an experience you clearly can’t get from watching a movie.

My reading preferences (books, kindle etc.) are probably kindle (digital book) normal book and on my I-pad on I-books. Project Rockit Social media tips

Project Rockit

Project Rockit is a team that goes around to different schools and do talks about social media, cyber-bullying and things around that area. Yesterday they came to our school.
They did a section on ‘hot tips’ about ho to be safe and to help stop cyber bullying online.

The ones i’m going to focus on are NOT TELLING OTHER PEOPLE YOUR PASSWORD
and USING EMOJIS TO TELL YOUR EMOTIONS

KEEPING YOUR PASSWORD PRIVATE

that’s because i always tell one of my close, trustworthy friends my password so if i forget it, they will know. The reason you shouldn’t tell people your password is because if someone knows that, then they can get into your computer and take all your personal info and sell it to people.

USING EMOJIS TO TELL YOUR EMOTIONS

i use emojis all the time because i LOVE them! i think emojis are cool because you can even say a whole sentence by using one or two emojis.

the reason i chose this is because it is something that social media really lacks. Tone of voice and body language. if you were jokingly saying “you were so naughty in class today” they might mistake you and think you were telling them off for being naughty. if you used an emoji thwn things would be allot easier E.G (you were so naughty in class today:) they would know you meant it in a jokingly manner.

Those are my HOT TIPS for Social media Inspired by Project Rockit. Here are the rest to make sure you stay safe on Social media.

ARE YOU PART OF THE PROBLEM, OR THE ANSWER?

1. Don’t talk to strangers
2. use emojis to express your feelings
3. keep your password private
4. keep difficult conversations offline
5. If you see something that troubles you press REPORT
