This week in design we have learning about sensors and screen display. Screen display on you EV3 you have a big screen with nothing on when you play your program, so you can make your robot have some personality and a face so here is my program for the screen display.
This is my program for screen display the first brick is to make eyes. On the top there is a little white rectangle, that is to make a picture or a word come up. You can also put a picture from your files. You can click Lego files in that file there is a whole section for eyes if you click on that you will get a list on expressions on it as you can see I choose to use the black eye. The next Butten on the brick is the one on the far left this icon is used for choosing your eye or you word or your image. The last two icons are your x and y vales these are used to selected the positon for your image, word or eye. The next brick is just to make it go forward up the top it has the positions of what the motes are plugged into. The next icon is what way you’re going as you can see I am going forward. Icon three is what speed you are on I am on speed 50 you can go all the way up to 100.The next icon is showing how you are measuring it I have seconds this goes for 5 you can choose from degrees that us just degrees and there is also rotations the rotations mean how many times the wheel goes around.
The Touch Senser
This is my program for the touch sensor The first brick is to my robot go forward just forever. You can make you robot go forever or stop completly.My program is go forward forever at speed 100.(it is really hard to see) Oh yeah the brick is green so it is for the motor or movment.This next brick is for the touch sensor this brick is for when it hits something it will…and that is the next brick it is not that much but it is a very impotend.the next brick is stop and so it will just stop not much to say about that, the next brick is so after it stops it will reverse so it will turn 365 degrees and there should be one more brick and that would be go forward so it is like a mini cores. So if you start from the start the robot will go forward and then when it hits something it will stop and then it will reverse.
The ultrasonic sensor
This is my program for the ultrasonic sensor. The first brick is for just going forward forever the same as always and it is also on speed 100. The next brick is the ultrasonic sensor one. This brick is to use the ultra-sensor. The ultra-sensor is a type of sensor this is used to sensor this that are a serten distance away let’s say my program had 5 centimeters away it would only sense things that are 5 centimeters away like if you out your foot in frount of the robot it would do the next thing on your program. So back to the 3rd brick it is the reves brick. It si on 1 rotating and on speed 56.I have a loop around it can repete.This is a good sensor for a maze or a cores. They are all f the sensors and things I have learnt in the last 2 weeks.
We are getting close to robot olympics,Lulu and I are not ready at all we have our 100 meter ready well that is easy.But the 400 is not working.The 400 meter is a oval which makes it very hard to program.the oval has sraight sids so that bit is easy.It gose for 2.5 seconds ot the first turn.The turn is hard becaues it is not a 90 degre angle.It is like well I do not what it is like so we can not do the angle so,dash (is the robot we ae using) gose a bit furthan that the turn and dose a right angle.then is gose straigt and tries to turn but it is not working yet.
Today we are going to practise for the robot olyimpics but dash is not charged or is not working so we ahve nothing to do.So for that seasion we help jas with the opening cemorny.Sorry not much to tell.
Today is our second day doing the robot Olympics. I am working with Lulu we are doing the EV3 we are also hoping to do a bit with the spero as well. For the EV3 we are doing the 100 and 400.we are programing the 100 meter first. We got it I do not know how long it went for but we got it. It goes just over the finish line which is good. I really hope we win. But because of the carpet it goes right a little bit so we have to put it right we have to put it on the end of the left side it is on speed 100. Now we have to do the 400 meter because it is a oval it is going to take us a long time we are doing so that it is going in a rectangle because we thought it might be quicker that doing then oval shape. First it goes straight for about 4 to 5 seconds then it goes right and then straight again. That is all we got done
We are also using dash we have decided to just do the 100 for EV3 because then we would be in 4 events because we ae doing the 100 and 400 for dash. We worked out well we are not 100 percent shore but we think that dash is the fasted out of all of the spero and Olli’s we got it to do the 100 and it is going really ell next season we are going to work on the 400.
The robot Olympics is the Olympics for robots. In the robot Olympics there are EV3 and sphero,olli.dash and drones. We all have to enter in at lest 1 event. For the EV3 there is 100 meter well it is like 10 meters it is just in a straight line. The 400 meters is a oval it is like 11 meters I do not know but I know that it is no 400 meters. The charet race is the same cores as the 100 (more like 10 meters) but there is like a little cage with no walls for the EV3 you have to make it out of Lego. For the spero there is the same 100 meters and the same 400 meters but for the cage race and yes I am calling it a cage race there are real cage that fit and are made by a company. That is what we are doing in design.
In maths yesterday we were building cubes. We had to make a house with 4 cubes.The rules are on the picture on the top. There are 15 ways to make different house. But we could not have one that was connected but had no sport. You can only flip it you can not rotate it. I was with Laura, Lulu, Issy and Ella. We worked really hard.
In class we have reading a marathon of her own. This story is based of on true events. Sophia the main character, her mum and her little brother Constantino are heading to Australia from Crete. There dad (which they call baba) left 2 years ago to go find work because of poverty and the depression. Sophia, her mum and constantino are boarding the Cyrenia. There are going to be 800 people on the one ship. On the way Sophia meets a young woman called Crissy(her left her job as a teacher) she also met Maritsa and her mother. This book is set in the 1955-1956. Sophia dream is to run the marathon for grease in the Olympics.
