In this project Tessa and I want people to realise how important and full of life The Great Barrier Reef is. The Great Barrier Reef is more important than people think. It is the largest reef in the world! If something changes quickly (by human impact) the reef will change significantly. The food chain is a crucial element of any system that has life involved.

Facts we used in our project:

  • The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest reef system.
  • Six species of sea turtles come to the great barrier reef to breed.
  • Around 10 percent of the world’s total fish species can be found just within the Great Barrier Reef.
  • There are at least 330 species of ascidians on the reef system.

By starting by these we could build on them by making them longer and more interesting to read.

Starting to glue the tissue paper (the sea and sand) on to our box…

Adding the clay turtles

After that we made some clay fish and we brought them to the canteen to get baked in the oven. We came back about 15-20 mins later.

Connecting the wires:

When we were doing this it was very challenging connecting the wires and then getting the pins to stay in place. We have decided to tape them in place for the time being…
