Did you achieve what you originally set out to do?
Yes, I think that I achieved everything and above that I thought I could achieve, the thing that I found was that ruling of the dimensions was a bit tricky and we had to use all sorts and tried to experiment with the different sizes of the shapes.
What successes or challenges did you experience toward the end of your project?
Well towards the end of the project we were never home and we had a hard time finishing it but in the end we did it and I’m super happy how it turned out.
How did you overcome the challenges?
I started to try and commit more time for the project and that meant me having to get my priorities in order and instead of watching TV and doing it later I started doing the project earlier and TV later.
How can you extend your learning if you were to continue with this project?
I think that if I had more time I think I could put a logo in the middle and that would make it look a lot cooler.
The unit the we have just finished was Win at The Fair our main goal was to Win but at first we thought that we were playing the games but that wasn’t the case we were the people running the game and that little bit of info changed a lot. After we had that info our game boards changed dramatically people started adding portals and rivers which everyone had a lot of fun with but as we got to the digital testing you weren’t aloud to have them because it wasn’t within the program of the game
These are the stats and the game board that we started with we lost $187.40 and we played 149 games so we weren’t very successful. When we started to check our game boards on Maths 300 the results weren’t much better we played 1000 games and each game costs $1 so the income was $1000. Our game boards gave out much more on my first game board had an average payout of $3.50 which was pretty bad our goal was to make $300+ so that means our average payout would have to be at least 70c or under.
These photos are the most successful game board that I created over lesson 2 and 3 we tried to create the best game board we could find but it had to make money and it had to be enticing. On the game board above I made $340.40 my average payout was 66c and I was really happy with my outcome. One of my strategies was to have a big jackpot to try and lour customers but if they wo the jackpot I was in trouble so I had less arrows going upwards so there was less chance of the jackpot being won and I had smaller prizes of to the sides so I can make some prophets.
Lesson 4 was just about finalizing your game boards and trying to make improvements we also spent the lesson taking screen snips of our progress we also had a class decoction and recapped the unit that we had just finished.
Netiquette- Netiquette means having good behaviour on the internet and correct use of online sources.
Flaming/Flame wars- When people have an argument over something on the internet.
Trolls- People who deliberately try and cause trouble and havoc on the internet.
Anonymous- Someone who cant be identified [ example: pretending to be someone else]
Communicating clearly- using Emojis, Caps lock and Grammar.
Permission- Make sure that you have the permission from their parents or the person the photo is of.
Once the message is on the internet you cant take it back.
Today we learned about Digital Citizenship and what it means to be a digital citizen. We learnt how to think, T H I N K is the acronym we focused on so what does each letter mean?
T- Is it true is what your posting true and will it hurt the person its aimed at?
H- Is it helpful and will help someone if they need some help and is it hurtful?
I- Is it inspiring and will someone if their down look for inspiration and look up to be like them.
N- Is it necessary think, is this a meaningless post, photo or comment necessary?
K- Is it kind will someone feel good about it or will they feel hurt and upset?

So far I have been painting the backboards, making the rings and cutting up the wood. My favourite part so far has been the painting because its something I don’t get to enjoy that much so I’ve really enjoyed it but just generally its been a great project so far. What I plan on doing next is marking up the court and attaching the backboards, rings and poles onto the court. The picture above is me painting the backboards.
What I intend to create is a model sized basketball court and make a game out of it. The Tech I am going to use is my phone and do a time laps and take photos of my progress. My project is targeted at yr 6 students and teachers. I’m exited for the experience of my first passion project and exited for the making of the project.
This talk came from an 11 year old boy who had a passion about what food we buy in the super market. His name is Birke Beahr, when he was younger he wanted to be a NFL football player but now all he wants to be is a local organic farmer that supplies fresh food and produce. One of the phrase’s that I remember is ‘ do you want to pay the farmer or the hospital.
The way that Birke got his messages across was at the start he warmed up his audience with an example of a fish tomato and that made most people laugh, he also spoke with a lot of emotion in his voice and spoke with passion. I also liked his gestures but he used them a lot.
Birke had support from a lapel mic and the screen projector also the speakers that you cannot see but hear and are very affective.
As I said earlier he used gestures a lot and that’s an under statement, he used the whole stage and talked with reason and passion and he was devoted to his topic and you can sense it. I really connected with him and I was engaged the whole time and all of these things make a great TED Talk.
In Richards TED talk he explains the problem that him and his family and many others have with lions killing and eating their live stock because on the other side of his fence there is national park where all animals roam free but the lions keep breaking into so many peoples houses around Kenya and killing their animals.
I thought that some of the takeaways were that big problems can be solved with little things and one person can make a difference, also everything does not need to end in violence. I also learnt that lions are afraid of moving lights because on the one night that Richard stayed up and patrolled the cow shed with a torch no lions were seen.
The way that Richard got his messages across was probably using humour like when he had to pull apart his Mums radio to take away the battery to use for his invention. He also used the whole stage and a lot of hand gestures to further his point.
He used a microphone to amp up his voice and a projecter to illurstrate his point. He also used images that are very graphic like an image of his dead bull. The timing of the image changes were really good. There were also videos of the lights flashing outside the cow shed. All these techniques helped connect with the audience.
One of the main messages was that its hard to make an app and that you need a lot of support from teachers, friends and family. I also took away that if you just sit around your dream will stay a dream.
The way that he connected with his audience was that he added a bit of humor and that helped keep his audience interested, he also made some connections with his personal life and how hard it was for him to persuade his parents to pay the fee for him to put his newly created apps to be put on the apple app store. He also had great tone of voice and really good eye line to the audience and camera.
He had good support to project his voice with a microphone and his ipad probably had notes to help him and the big screen behind him to project images to help him describe what he was talking about and to show some of the apps that he made.
One of the things he did well was engage with audience and find humor in his TED talk, he also projected his voice really well I also noticed that he was using gestures to help illustrate his point.
