I really like doing this term’s Passion Project, i found it fun and thrilling showing my house in a first person perspective. What i found challenging was finding the right time to do my Passion Project because there wasn’t many opportunity’s where the house was empty, and all of the boxes were out and then also the house to at least be half set up. I think this Passion Project was a great one since it was the last one and you get to learn more about the Passion Project’s as you go on through the year.
The Fay’s Nine’s activity requires for your total to add up to 999, with a 3×3 square with 9 squares in the middle. Using the numbers 1 – 9 you had to create the total, the numbers you are adding go horizontally instead of vertically.
I started messing around with this problem by trying the bigger number in the units column, middle-ish numbers in the tens column and the smaller numbers in the hundreds column, we found five base answers and with those answers you could tinker with to make the correct answer of 180.
Some of the patterns i noticed were how the units column it had to add up to 19, the tens column 18 (because you have to carry 1) and then the units column 8. (because the one that you have carried) Another pattern that we found to get answers is to mix each column from the base answers and switch them vertically, first the units, then the tens and then the hundreds.
We broke this into parts by mixing and matching from the base answers, because we switched the numbers in the units, tens and hundreds.
With our investigation we found already knew that the answer was 180, we noticed that there was 138 answers if you sorted each answer vertically and then 42 more if you sorted some horizontally, i didn’t get to write this down but we figured it out in my group.
I found this activity VERY challenging because i am not very good at finding these type of patterns and calculating how many there are in each base answer and then adding them all together, i wish to improve on this in the future and any other areas of difficulty .
I couldn’t get 2 images sorry but i have one, my group did a lot of sorting out in there books, i was a little bit confused.
Hi and welcome to my term 3 Passion Project reflection, what i found challenging was learning what to say and play the guitar notes and things that i am supposed to play because i sometimes forget and it’s a bit hard to play some of the notes. I really love doing these Passion Projects because i get to share my passions with the class.
For my space habitat the place i have chosen is mars, and here why, on mars the temperature is -73 degrees c – 20 degrees c, so that is sort of normal and we could make things warmer by putting heaters powered by solar panels and we could make water by melting the icicle’s and then making water, and we could not only make power from solar panels we could also make it from making that water hot with like the solar panel power heater’s, and then that could create steam which could power things. we could terra-form the environment by planting plants like potato’s, carrot’s and etc. this might have a change on the environment by having new plants and then if there is alien’s and stuff like that on mars they might eat some plants and that might effect them in some way. this could be very useful for human because human’s may over populate on earth, and global warming and things like that. it would be a very big next step for humans and we would benefi
t a lot from it.
In my first Passion Project i achieved what i was hoping to achieving, although my expectations were dropped because i forgot that i might not have as good drawing skills as some other people who do them and my lighting and setup might not have been the best.
What were some challenges?
Some of the challenges i ran into were…
We couldn’t find a good item to make it so my phone/camera was on a horizontal angle and centred in the middle of the whiteboard. Instead we had to use a microphone stand and then we had to sticky tape a selfie stick to the end of the microphone stand because it would not fit were the microphone usually is and it would always fall.
Also we couldn’t get the video’s from my phone/camera onto the computer and only some photo’s from my phone/camera would appear, i think this is because i uploaded my camera roll on my phone/camera to the i-cloud to save storage, so what we had to do was use a U.S.B which was annoying because it took a very long time.
I also ran into a problem where i might not have had a very good microphone because my family’s good microphone is in storage so what i ended up doing was using a old headset, which surprisingly seemed to have a decent microphone.
And lastly with the editing i accidentally clicked a button that made the audio mute but i fixed it, i accidentally zoomed in where you put the content and had to get it so it would at least worked decently well, and it was hard because i had to the video’s sync up with the audio, but i made this easier by looking at how long the time was of the audio and making the video the same duration, and also i sped up every video a bit and then memorised how long they go for so that i would record my different parts so that they go for around about the same amount of time.
My Dad helped me with this project.
Here is a picture of the setup i used.
Win At the fair is a game where, well you have to win at the fair, first we got given a sheet to play the game, but the sheet wasn’t fair, It had way too high numbers, a low entry fee of $1 and it was a high chance to roll on the tiles with a lot of money to lose. Everybody had 10 go’s of getting an amount of money from the game at fair, here is the data.
The next time we created one it was the “creative” game at the fair, this game was the first Try of creating a game board that will work in order to make us money, here is some what my “creative” game board looked like and some data from 10 turns of rolling and getting on a tile that contains money.
The Game board after that, the 2nd Fair Game Board was supposed to be the updated version of the “creative” Fair Game Board, it was supposed to be the final game board, i put this game board into maths 300 and sadly i could not have the $0.50 in front of the start sign, but here are the results i have had after the 2nd Fair Game Board.
I lost $714.25 and i lost $0.71 each game, I think i could improve by making the higher numbers down the bottom only and the lower numbers up the top, so that it is higher chance to roll a lower number. I have run out of time to test this 4 times or to create a new game board, sorry. But this was an activity that definitely made me think.
For my 1st Passion Project i am doing g a draw my life on how i got into video games. So far i am pretty sure i have got all the equipment i need such as a whiteboard, good markers, good light for lighting, eraser, selfie stick and my phone for filming. I hope you enjoy my finished product once i am done!
