In session 1 we got split into groups of 3, and we talked about what its going to do, and how with the design. Our groups aim is to press space bar to start a song. We tossed up some ideas like making paper go in the bin, or hit a bell, or even record a video!
In session 2 we did a little bit more of designing and we brought some materials in and started to make a little bit like a pulley, and a inclined plane. It got difficult with the stress on us that we have to connect it all up soon.
in Session 3 we improved our design and made our structure stronger. It was quite hard because the pulley kept and getting tangled up. We figured the ramp should be on the structure that holds the pulley.
In session 4 we connected the parts we have so far and made it all flow together. So far we have a car go down a ramp that goes into a pulley, that on the other cup of the pulley has a marble on it and the marble falls down a ramp, that’s all we have got so far. We got a lot of work done today.
In session five our machine stopped working but then we got it back to normal and tried to get it to press space bar on my computer to start a song. We didn’t get to do much this lesson because we got our my machine to work again and it was only an hour long lesson.
I wasn’t here for session 6 but I’m sure my group did well.
What is a Rube Goldberg machine? A Rube Goldberg project is a complicated series of tasks all combined together to do a simple thing.
This is a programming app, in it we program a robot called the EV3 to move or make sound. There are 3 ways to do things, you can adjust in seconds, rotations, and degrees. you can make your groups robot go forward or play a tune. It is really fun!
I learned from this activity how to program a robot like this!
In project 1, we were with Mr.Colbert. We used K-nex to build a simple machine, for example you couldn’t build a hammer because there is no simple machine in it, where as in a tow truck there are many simple machines. We split into partners and choose a machine to build out of a K-nex guide. Me and my partner (Will) chose the tow truck, the simple machines in a tow truck are a wheel and axel, lever, and pulley. We didn’t get to finish but it was a great lesson!
In project 2, we were with Mr.Mackay and working on pulleys, we went into groups of 3 or 2, in my case 3. We didn’t do much, so I’ll just explain what a pulley is. A pulley is something that has rope/wire attached to it and pulls thing up by making the other thing down.
In project 3 we worked on making a Lego simple machine like a inclined slope/ramp or something like that. I once again didn’t get to finish mine but by memory I did a ramp. It was quite hard finding the pieces I have to admit.
Project 4 (The mix)
In this lesson we put all of our things together, but me and my permanent partner didn’t do much, we were really close to finishing our K-nex project but didn’t quite get there. He finished his Lego thing as well.

PSERUDOCODE: A simple program “nickname.”
We got put into groups of 3 and copied a design in a book step by step, the goal was to make a Lego Robotics car. It was quite challenging with all the little parts and connecting them. I learned from this how to make good Lego following steps.
