arduino

introduction

yesterday we started our last rotation. our rotation was in Arduino. in Arduino you can use a bread board to make things light up. you can also use alligator clips to make a circuit. a bread board is a device that makes circuits in an organized way. alligator clips conduct energy to make a circuit. also in Arduino you can light up led’s but when you light up a led you have to use a resister so the led dose not get hit with to much energy. a resister makes the energy flow smoothly.

this is the energy flow of a circuit. it is very important that I know were the energy flows because other wise nothing would work.

the bread board 

the bread board is one of the most important pieces in the Arduino kit. the bread board make circuits in a neat and tidy way. at the bottom of the little square holes in the bread board there is conductive tape. the conductive tape makes the circuits.

LED 

this is the led. the led had a long leg and a short leg the long leg is the positive energy and the short leg is the negative energy.

the Arduino Uno board

the Arduino board is definitely the most important piece in the hole kit. this controls the bread board, the downloading of the programs and the Uno board also controls the cords that make the led turn on.

the alligator clips  

the alligator clip are just another way of making a circuit. the alligator clips can turn on a led.

the resister 

the job of the resister is to keep the leds from copping to much energy. the resister make the energy smooth. there are different kinds of resisters there is the 100 resister, the 220 resister, the 330 resister, the 1k resister and the biggest one the 10k resister. the numbers mean how muck the resister can proses.

the battery and battery cap

  the battery powers the bread board. the battery cap goes on top of the battery. the battery cap helps mostly helps the alligator clips because on the end of the battery cap there are wires the end of the alligator clips clip on to the end of the wires and conduct the energy.

challenge one 

in challenge one we had to make a led turn on. in this challenge we only had to use alligator clips, one led and a 330 resister. this challenge was very easy because in the very first rotation we made circuits. that made it very easy to complete. the only hard thing was remembering which cord was negative and which cord was positive.

in challenge two we had to use the bread board to turn on a led. I only had to use the bread board, a 330 resister ,the battery and the led. this was not that hard at all because I used what I learnt in challenge one. there were not to many pieces we had to use so that made it easier.

challenge three

in challenge three we had to make a led go on for one second than go off for one second. this was not very hard but it was harder than all the other challenges. we used a led, a bread board a 1k resister and a red and black cord. this challenge was difficult because we had to use the Arduino Uno board. we had never used the board and the board was I bit confusing but once I got the hang of the positions of the ports it was easier.

challenge four

in challenge four we had to make our led flash quickly. this was by far the hardest challenge but it was made easier because I used what I already learnt.we used a led, a bread board a 1k resister and a red and black cord. one of the difficulties was when the diagram was different to the instructions, that was confusing. the programing was easy because we only had to change one number.

 challenge five

in challenge five we had to make a led turn on using a switch. a switch is something you click to make something turn on in this case I was making the led turn on. this was a very hard challenge because we had to use a lot of different cords and there were lots of misplaced led’s and cords and resisters because they were misplaced the led did not turn on. in this challenge we used a led, a bread board a 1k and 10k resister and about seven cords.

Challenge six
in challenge five we had to make a led dim using the diming dial. The diming dial is a blue switch that turns. The diming dial turns 180 degrees, so the light varies in brightness of the led. This challenge was quite hard because there were lots of cords and I have never used the diming switch before so that was confusing. With the programming all I had to do was find the program circuit 04 so I found it. then I tried to upload the program to the Uno board but when it was uploading my computer showed me a message it said that an error occurred. I closed the program and then found circuit 04 again and uploaded the program to the Uno board and it worked.

 challenge seven

in challenge seven we had to make lots of led’s scroll. what I mean by scroll is when one led goes off the next one goes on and it repeats. this challenge was so hard because we had to use so many cords and led’s. I had never used so many cords and leds. we had lots of difficulties like putting the led’s in the wrong way and putting the cords in the wrong port. In the end we ran out of time and did not finish the challenge.

challenge 8

in challenge 8 we had to use the dial to make the led’s scroll using a turning switch. this challenge was very hard because again we had to use a lot of things we used 10 led’s, 10 resisters,a lot of cords and a dial. this was hard because I have never tried to us the dial to make things scroll. but I have used the dial before so that helped a little. some of the difficulties were that the a error occurred when we tried to upload the program. and the uploading cord was failing than we changed computers and it worked. and it turned out we did not need a program.

Challenge 9

In this challenge we had to make 8 leds scroll. Scrolling means that when one led goes off a other led lights up and so on. In this challenge we used 8 leds, a Arduino Uno board, a bread board, 8 330 ohm resisters and lots of jumper wires. This challenge was hard because we had to use so many wires and so many leds and resisters. There was one main problem this problem was that either the USB cord or my computer was broken so the leds did not scroll very well.

challenge 10 

in challenge 10 we had to make a led turn on when the light sensor has light. but when the light sensor has no light the led goes off. in this challenge we needed a Arduino Uno, a bread board, a USB cable, one led, a 330 ohm resister, a 1k ohm resister, photoresister light sensor and 6 jumper wires. this challenge was hard because I have never used a sensor before. it was a good thing that the wires was not to complicated. other wise this challenge would be so hard. and it was good that some how we did not need a program.

reflection 

I really enjoyed Arduino because it was very rewarding. it took a long time but we were all very happy when it worked. Arduino Is much harder than humming bird and I liked Arduino more. because I liked Arduino so much I chose to use Arduino in my free project.
