Last week we had a ton of exciting events like swimming, some maths we haven’t done before and design.
We did a 4,5,6 intesive swimming program. We got put in lane groups but the groips weren’t based on the talent expect for lane 8. The one thing that is reallly bad is we missed recess, when I dived sometimes my goggles came of while I was diving but not of the diving board it was for freestyle. Diving of the diving board was my favourite activity out of the swimming program. To start of the diving we did pin drops and the after frontflips of the ground into the pool then we got to the frontflips of the diving board. I think I have improved my talent the this program. It’s been really fun!
In maths yesterday we were focusing on probability. An example of probability is like the weather theres a 50% it’s going to be sunny we have to 3 other examples of probability like theres a 40% OKC Thunder are going to win the NBA Champinship Theres a 20% Australia are not going to win the test series against South Afriaca there is a 60% it’s going to be a good summer. We got 3 circles and cut them out, there was 2 unfair and 1 fair our class got orange crayons then we coloured them in, with the fair we had to do an even circle I did 4 quarters and with the other circles I did 3 quarters and a third to make it uneven then we got these plastic spinners and put the paper spinners in the plastic spinner and spin it 10 times then collect the spins like my even circle 5 out of 5 which is the best result you get my others were 3 out of 7 and 2 out of 8. We stuck sticky notes on the paper spinners, we chose 1 uneven and stuck it on the wall from worst result to best result, then spun each others and see if the result were right. I enjoyed this maths lesson.
This week we have been working on crumpier bags. We got a nearly done I only have to do a few more stiches and put on the valcroe, my partner has kept on making the sewing machine not work and completly hogging the sewing machine as well! But I only have to unpick twice but I am on the bottom of the bag sewing the end and then folding it then sewing it again. All I have to do is the valcroe, Mrs Watson is going to sew a little hole at the very top. I have enjoyed this week!
Today instead of sewing because Mrs Watson wasn’t here we did robotics. We made another swing because someone stepped on our old swing, but our new one was better and didn’t have as much sticky tape on it. We worked in a different place because we needed hot glue to make sure the boxes stayed together because it would look better, heaps of people got hot glue on the fingers I accdently got some on my finger it hurt like really badly. Ted M broke our robot so we have to build it all again which is not that good
I’ve made a screen cast for my program. In term 4 design we are going to focus more in robotics. We had some choices for design to do line following, dance, scratch, crumpier bags, challenge mats and electronics. I chose dance and crumpier bags, we started with the dance. We got into groups of 4 and discussed what to do for our dance. We kept changing ideas like the scene, the costume, the music and the program, we thought of two trucks going to fight and the winner is going dance. But we have came up with a finalised plan at the park and we are going to make a truck running into a little kid on swing which took me 3 quaters period in a hawthorn jersey because our team hates hawthorn, theres going be a geelong supporter laughing at the hawthorn kid. Once it runs the kid it’s going to dance. The one bad thing about the dance is we have to dance beside the robot but i’m not going to be there for dance because i’m going away by week 8 and the competiton is in week 9, I’ll help my teamates as much as I can to make them win.

Today in design we learnt about colour sensors, I have a video that shows my program.
In heaps of design session we learnt about sensors. There is heaps of sensors but we learnt about two, the names of them are the ultrasonic sensor and the touch sensor. The touch sensor is if your EV3 robot was about crash just before it crashed it picked up the wall but the object in front of the robot it couldn’t be long and skinny or small, it had to be bigger than the robot and wider.
You can make faces on the robot using screen display. You can make heaps of faces on the robot like smiley, sad, normal and heaps more. The Ultrasonic sensor is just like the touch sensor and it helps it work better. The sensor recognised the object in front of the robot.We had to have a touch sensor on the back as well so the robot back into something it will detect it. We made a maze, it was really fun. Some groups got it first try because they had a good program other people it took them a while before they got the right program. It was fun to watch because the robots were trying to get out of the maze sometimes it took them a while. Making this programing and putting sensors on the robot has been fun, the maze wasn’t too hard so we adjusted it a bit, but we got told of for marking it too hard and had to put it to normal.
You can choose what type of sensor you want with this brick like the colour sensor, ultrasonic sensor the Gyro sensor and the touch sensor and more heaps. The second bit on the brick means it will be less than 4. The second last bit means the value is 50 it won’t go any further. The last bit on the brick is the distance of the centermeters.

Making all this has been a fun journey, I hope to continue with this for next term.
In design we had to finish our programs and pick are events our group is doing 100m and the chariot race. The 100m is to long so we shortened it to 10m because it’s more suitable for us. The chariot race is when there is a tralier are’s unfortunatley broke so we had to rebuild it but we found some really big tires which is good. I had heaps of fun making this building and programing I can’t wait till the mini Robot Olympics.
We went in the gym to pratice for the real Robot Olympics. We had to prepare because the ground was different to the carpet, the ground was wood and hard. Our group was preparing to master every event we did. We kept on praticing until is was just right. The gym was jam packed with different groups, it took about 5 minutes to have a turn. I can not wait until the Robot Olympics tommorow it’s going to be so much fun.

In the design we did programing. The EV3 robot wasn’t working for a while so we worked out what we are going to do to program the robot. It was really cool because you control the speed, sterering and the wheel rotations. The wheel rotations were really hard to figure out because we didn’t know how many centermeters one full wheel rotation was.When it started to work kept on doing spins and it was awful so we thought about the problem and realised what the problem was one wheel wasn’t moving. This was a totally new thing for me I have learnt a ton of new things.
